Gluten Free Fast Food
Gluten free fast food seems a bit impossible. With so many chain restaurants simply concerned for profit and moving product, it appears that acquiescing to a small minority of eaters wouldn’t be in their interest. Not true. Food that is gluten free or lacks wheat has grown in demand in the last several years, and the voices of consumers have been heard by many companies that now offer easy substitutes alongside their normal menu to help people on a restricted diet.
For example, many sandwich places now offer tortillas, instead of bread, made with corn rather than wheat. These are not only safe to eat, but are lower in carbohydrates than a normal loaf of bread, so are much healthier as well. Alternatively, many chains that offer burgers also feature patties wrapped in lettuce leaves to hold the burger together and provide a crunchy contrast to the meat. Again, this not only works for a restricted diet, but is a very healthy choice.
Additionally, many chains offer meals that just happen to be free of wheat flour. For example, greater demand for healthy products like salads means full-sized options with meat that is a complete meal that is filling and lacks gluten. Of course, be sure to check the ingredients of the dressing as many of these are thickened with wheat flour.
With these options in mind, it’s very likely you will now find a filling full meal at your local fast food place that also will help you meet your dietary goals and restrictions.
